Wednesday nights are usually dedicated to learning for our Clonduff group, but this week, we decided to shake things up and take a well-deserved break from our usual routine. Gathering at the welcoming Orangefield Presbyterian Church, with the guidance of Amanda Forsythe, we swapped our workbooks for aprons and enjoyed an evening filled with laughter, delicious pizza, and a hands-on pancake-making session.

Learning how to make pancakes turned out to be more than just a fun activity—it was a great way to develop practical skills! From measuring ingredients and practicing patience as the pancakes cooked to perfecting the flip. It also encouraged teamwork, attention to detail, and even boosted confidence as we saw (and tasted!) the fruits of our labour. Plus, let’s be honest, nothing beats the joy of indulging in warm, freshly made pancakes at the end of the night.

This cosy evening has also put us in the festive spirit as we gear up for the season ahead. Making pancakes got us thinking about the sweet and savory treats that await at the Christmas markets. Whether it’s browsing through stalls or enjoying the holiday atmosphere, the pancake practice has us more than ready to indulge in the festive fun.

It’s safe to say we all had a great night, stepping out of our usual learning zone and bonding over food and fun. A big thank you to Amanda Forsythe and Orangefield Presbyterian Church for hosting and helping us create such wonderful memories. Next week, it’s back to the books—but for now, we’re still savoring the sweetness of our midweek break.
